Distinguished figures like UN Special Representative for Somalia Catriona Laing and British Ambassador to Somalia Mike Nithavrianakis praised NADRA’s robust systems and congratulated the governments of Pakistan and Somalia on this successful achievement. This project is part of a multimillion-dollar grant provided by the government of Pakistan to Somalia, emphasizing the strong bond between the two nations.
The issuance of national IDs through SNIDS will empower NIRA and the Ministry of Interior in Somalia to fulfill their mandate of enhancing governance, security, and socioeconomic development. This will provide the citizens of Somalia with a secure and universally recognized form of identification.
President of Somalia Hassan M Sheikh also expressed profound gratitude to the government of Pakistan as he, alongside other dignitaries from the Somalian government, was enrolled for his national ID during the registration drive.
SNIDS is expected to streamline public service delivery, including social welfare programs, healthcare services, and electoral processes, ultimately leading to improved governance.
