ECC Approves Recovery of Rs. 0.46 Per Unit Surcharge from K-Electric Consumers

ECC Approves Recovery of Rs. 0.46/Unit Surcharge from K-Electric Consumers.

On Friday, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Federal Cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, approved the second quarterly tariff adjustment of Rs. 0.4689 per unit for K-Electric consumers.

The adjustment, aligned with uniform guidelines, will be applicable to the consumption of July, August, and September 2023, to be recovered from consumers in December 2023, January 2024, and February 2024.

Additionally, the ECC approved the application of XWDISCOs’ second quarterly tariff adjustment of Rs. 0.4689/unit for K-Electric consumers, applicable to the consumption of April, May, and June 2023.

The recovery is scheduled for December 2023, January 2024, and February 2024.

The meeting covered various summaries, including an extension of the GOP guarantee ceiling for PSO till December 2024, a disbursement of Rs. 20 billion for the Green Pakistan Initiative, and technical supplementary grants for repair and maintenance.

The ECC also approved the release of Rs. 5 billion for the Digital Information Infrastructure project. The decisions were made in the presence of key ministers and government officials.

Following thorough discussion and careful consideration, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has directed the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to scrutinize the status of 8,000 registered daily wage laborers working at the Chaman border.

The aim is to determine if these individuals are already part of the BISP system and, if eligible, extend support to them.

The allocated budget for this initiative will be utilized in coordination with the Finance Department, Government of Balochistan, with later reimbursement for the expenditure incurred in providing six months of assistance to the daily wage workers.
