KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has directed re-conduct of Medical and Dental College Admission Test 2024 within four weeks.
The SHC had earlier suspended the result of MDCAT 2024 and restrained the authorities from finalizing and processing admissions on the basis of the exam result and had adjourned the hearing till today.

A two-judge bench of Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito announced its reserved decision on the case when it ordered relevant authorities to conduct the exam again within four weeks.

The court declared that the elaborative judgment regarding the MDCAT results case will be issued separately. It demanded a call for consultations by the Sindh government with the stakeholders to chalk out practicable actions and frame an overall strategy if the retest goes on.
While hearing in the court, the head of the committee Shireen Narejo submitted a report according to which they found the grave faultiness of the examination system in Dow University that raises concerns of compromised procedures.

The court expressed extreme annoyance at the exam committee and questioned whether “the committee was working or sleeping in their houses?” The court noted that the bulk of the burden lay on PMDC and Dow University, whereas perhaps those who wielded power were also part of it.

The counsel for PMDC before the court said an inquiry is in process regarding an inquiry about paper leak and involvement of some outsiders.
Justice Salahuddin, expressing his apprehension about some hidden external influences at PMDC asked the bench how that institution could ensure no external influence on other institutions.
The bench was hearing a set of petitions filed by various candidates against the MDCAT held on Sept 22 in the province. They sought declaration of the exam as “null and void” and issuance of a directive for respondents to hold the admission test afresh.
