The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted varying intensities of rainfall, snowfall, and isolated hailstorms in the upper and central parts of Pakistan from February 17 to 21.
A strong westerly wave is expected to approach western Pakistan on February 17 night, potentially affecting the upper and central regions from February 18 onwards.
In Gilgit Baltistan/Kashmir, moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the hills are anticipated from February 17-21, with occasional hailstorms.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Dir, Swat, and other areas may experience moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall from February 17-20, with isolated hailstorms.
For Punjab/Islamabad, regions including Murree, Galyat, and Lahore may see moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall from February 17-21, with light to moderate rain in other areas.
Balochistan could experience rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in certain regions on February 18-19.
Southern parts of Sindh are expected to remain dry with strong gusty winds from February 18-20.
Possible impacts include traffic disruptions, road closures, landslides in certain areas, and potential damage to structures. Farmers and tourists are advised to exercise caution during this period.
