Punjab Unveils Unique Ramadan Relief Package for BISP Families
The Punjab government is gearing up for the holy month of Ramadan with a unique initiative aimed at supporting families enrolled in the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

This innovative program, currently under discussion, promises to provide much-needed assistance during this significant religious observance.
Introducing Ramadan Hampers:
The program proposes the introduction of Ramadan Hampers, filled with essential food items and specially curated for Eid celebrations.
These hampers, sourced from local wholesale markets, will reach an estimated 65,000 to 70,000 families in need.
A Distinctive Eid Special Package:
Eligible beneficiaries will receive a distinctive Eid special package valued at Rs. 3,630, distributed completely free of cost. This thoughtfully assembled package caters to the basic needs of families and includes:
- 10 kg of flour
- 2 kg of sugar
- 2 kg of basin
- 2 kg of rice
- 2 kg of ghee
These essential items provide a solid foundation for preparing Suhoor and Iftar meals throughout Ramadan, while the inclusion of rice and ghee adds further variety to the recipients’ dietary options.
Ensuring Smooth Distribution:
To ensure seamless delivery, efficient logistics have been established for home delivery of the Eid packages. A nominal bag cost of Rs. 435 will cover delivery expenses.
Transparency and Price Setting:
Maintaining transparency and accountability, the initiative has also set fixed prices for individual food items within the package:
- Flour: Rs. 135 per kg
- Sugar: Rs. 140 per kg
- Basin: Rs. 230 per kg
- Ghee: Rs. 460 per kg
- Rice: Rs. 280 per kg
- Plastic bags: Rs. 60 each
A Commitment to Supporting the Community:
The Punjab government has allocated a preliminary budget of Rs. 9 billion to ensure the successful implementation of this extensive support program.
This commitment demonstrates the government’s dedication to supporting underprivileged families during the holy month of Ramadan and the joyous Eid celebrations.
