Rawalpindi Electric Bus Service Routes
The electric bus service will run on four routes planned to link important parts of the city:
- Route 1: Islamabad International Airport to Railway Station
- Major stations include GT Road, Kohinoor Mill, and Race Course.
- Route 2: Railway Station to Chaklala Scheme Three
- Crosses through Saddar and Kacheri.
- Route 3: T-Chowk to Kacheri Chowk
- Reaches DHA Phase Five, Bahria Phase Seven, and Ayub Park.
- Route 4: Adiala Jail to Metro Station Saddar
The stops will include Lal Kurti and Khawaja Corporation.

Investment and Funding:
The project cost is estimated to be over Rs7 billion, while the Punjab government has allocated Rs4.7 billion for its implementation.
Implementation Schedule:
The Punjab Mass Transit Authority has been assigned the task of implementing the project, with a target completion date by November 30, 2025.

200 electric buses will be inducted into the routes across the cities, including cantonment areas.
- Infrastructure Development
- A major overhauling of transportation infrastructure will be done in support of the project:
Chohar Chowk Depot:
The old GTS bus depot will be overhauled to accommodate 100 buses.
Adamjee Road Terminal:
A modem terminal with 40 electric charging stations will be constructed.
Coordination with China
The project aligns with an agreement signed during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China.
The collaboration focuses on curbing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable public transport.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also approved the state-of-the-art transport system, marking a significant step towards modernizing Rawalpindi’s public transit.
