How Not to Ride a Motorcycle in Pakistan 2024

About 70% of motorcycle riders never follow a single road rule because they don’t even know about it. This leads to much trouble for other bike riders, pedestrians crossing the road, and 4-wheeler drivers.

You can start the change by following the rules mentioned in this blog; here are some basic road rules you can follow so we all can become good citizens and do not create trouble for other people.

Do Not Overtake like a Mad Man

Overtaking another vehicle dangerously is not skillful but rather dangerous to all parties. Over taking the other vehicle too close, especially when the other vehicle is a motorcycle, confuses and makes the other party panic and thus lose control and fall from their bike.

This is not acceptable behavior, and we strictly condemn such careless overtaking. Overtake safely with enough distance to provide the other driver with ample space to be composed and remain in control.

Use Orange Color Indicators on Motorcycle: How Not to Ride a Motorcycle in Pakistan 2024

If you are out on the main road, you will notice that 80% of the bike riders never use their indicators. We do not know what the problem is with using those orange-colored blinking lights on the bike.

If indicators are broken, the replacement only costs Rs 80-120 for CD and Rs 100-150 for CG. We don’t know what is so expensive in it that 80% of bike riders don’t get it fixed.

Actually, a problem is that indicators indicate to the driver to swerve or make some way since you cannot warn or point someone behind you, a matter that is dangerous without pavilions. Probably everybody would stretch an arm on the side if his road had pavilions behind.

As other motorcyclists do to show caution and avoid hazards on their road, make use of those orange-colored blinking lights on your motorbike in order to attract the attention of the cars passing behind you.

The next car is not going to be prepared for you either. Hence, whenever you are about to change lane or lane turn, the car coming behind you must either brake harshly and have to shove you into your intended lane and this might hurt their rear.

Do Not Cut Across Other Vehicles from a Crowded Space in a Traffic Jam

When a motorcyclist cuts across another car in a traffic jam too closely, it can be heart-stopping for the owner of the car; the car may get scratched. Everyone loves their vehicle so do not give other people undue stress—just keep some distance from other cars in a traffic jam.

You’re not going to save a second of time by crossing in front of a car in a traffic jam from a squeezed way because another car ahead will be blocking your path and that’s why there is a traffic jam. Instead, be a responsible driver and wait for the traffic to resume.

Remember that other motorists with you are trapped there too. It will end soon; so just wait rather doing some dangerous maneuvering around.

Use the Taillights of your Motorcycle

If the taillight of your motorcycle does not work, it’s probably because its bulb is fused. It is universal and will fit most bikes, including CD, CG, GS, and YBR. It costs Rs. 30-60 + labor Rs. 50-100. That’s dirt cheap!

No specific reasons exist not to make a point to get it corrected; it is super affordable and can be done easily roadside by any mechanic.

Unless you have the rear indicator/taillight fitted to your motorcycle, then sometimes other road users do find it difficult to appreciate whether your motorcycle is either about to brake or change your course into their lane, particularly while operating in foggy environments where such collisions are pretty rampant.

The taillight serves to indicate, during this scenario, the direction which the motorcycle is or whether it intends to move.

So get it repaired and be a responsible bicycle rider.
