In a first of its kind, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a revolutionary program that would provide free insulin to children suffering from Type 1 diabetes.

This is the first time in the country’s history that support has been extended to children battling this chronic condition.

Insulin Delivered to Homes: Free Insulin for Type 1 Diabetic Children

Under the CM Maryam Nawaz Insulin Program, Type 1 diabetic children will receive insulin directly in their homes, saving them the hassle of visiting hospitals.

The programme also has a dedicated helpline (1033), by which easy registration and easy access to services can be made.

Parents can contact their local NCD clinics at tehsil or district levels to benefit from this initiative. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that children like flowers and must be nurtured with care. She added, “As a mother, I understand the pain of children suffering from illnesses, and this program aims to ease their challenges.”

Lifelong Support for Type 1 Diabetic Children

Children with Type 1 diabetes have to take insulin lifelong. This program is going to reduce the burden on families in terms of finance and emotions. The Chief Minister assured that all resources available will be used to ensure the health and well-being of children in Punjab.

Awareness and Action Against AIDS: Free Insulin for Type 1 Diabetic Children

On World AIDS Day, Maryam Nawaz also emphasized the issue of AIDS as a significant social problem. She urged collective efforts to prevent the spread of AIDS and ensure treatment for those affected. She said, “AIDS patients deserve compassion and support, not stigma.”

Strict implementation of SOPs for AIDS screening during dialysis has ensured in Punjab. Legal action has already taken against negligence in following protocols in Multan.

The government has committed to achieving its set goals for AIDS eradication.
