This date holds special significance, paying homage to the history of the Dubai Metro.

The inauguration will take place at exactly the 9th second of the 9th minute at 9 PM, marking the 20th anniversary of the iconic Dubai Metro’s first launch on 9-9-2009.

Investment and Project Scope

The construction of the Blue Line involves a Dh20.5 billion contract with three leading companies: Turkey’s Mapa and Limak, and China’s CRRC.

Spanning 30 kilometers with 14 stations, the line will host 28 trains and is projected to accommodate 200,000 daily passengers by 2030, rising to 320,000 by 2040.

It will contribute significantly to easing traffic congestion, reducing it by up to 20% across its routes, and increasing transit capacity by an additional 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions.

Connectivity and Travel Convenience

The Blue Line will enhance urban connectivity, linking Dubai International Airport with major areas such as:

  • Mirdif
  • Al Warqa
  • International City (1 & 2)
  • Dubai Silicon Oasis
  • Academic City
  • Ras Al Khor Industrial Area
  • Dubai Creek Harbour
  • Dubai Festival City

Travel times along the route will range from 10 to 25 minutes, ensuring efficiency for commuters. The project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, aiming to create a “20-minute city” where 80% of essential services are within a 20-minute travel radius.

Futuristic Station Designs

Unlike the enclosed structures of the existing Red and Green Lines, the Blue Line stations will feature sleek, futuristic designs. These stations will showcase smooth, curved structures with large ovals above the tracks, offering a modern aesthetic while enhancing passenger convenience.

Economic Impact and Property Growth

The Blue Line is expected to boost property values and rental rates in its surrounding areas, including International City, Silicon Oasis, Mirdif, Ras Al Khor, and Al Warqa. According to RTA, properties near the Blue Line stations may see a value increase of up to 25%, benefiting both the economy and local communities.
