Uganda Delegation Concludes Fruitful BISP Study Visit

Uganda Delegation Concludes Fruitful BISP Study Visit. A 21-member Ugandan delegation concluded their 4-day study visit to the BISP today.

A 21-member Ugandan delegation concluded their 4-day study visit

A 21 member Uganda delegation led by Ms Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye Secretary of Public Service concluded her four day’s study visit today to the Benazir Income Support Programme.

The visit followed the areas to gain insights on BISP’s experiences in social protection.

During the visit, the delegation was given extensive briefings on Pakistan’s socio-economic context and on BISP operations, covering: Evolutions of BISP since 2008; Programmes on UCT and CCT; BISP National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER).

They also toured BISP’s application of NSER in informing social protection, largely in response to COVID-19 and the 2022 floods.

The delegation was also taken to the BISP Dynamic Registration Center and Nashonuma Health Facilitation Center in Murree to view the work performed at the grass roots levels, including the ground-level NSER updates and the mother and child health care services.

Ms Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye thanked the management of BISP for the facilitation and hospitality of the program, praising dynamic registry, targeted outreach and the efficient digital payment system of the organization.

She praised BISP for a good use of technology and data collection, saying that BISP serves as a role model for women empowerment.

She underlined the engagement of all stakeholders towards coordination: “With BISP, we can design our social protection architecture for greater inclusion, transparency, and effectiveness in poverty reduction in Uganda.”

Secretary BISP, Amer Ali Ahmad warmly welcomed the Ugandan delegation on their effective study tour and hoped that “Uganda’s government would like to adopt or replicate these learning’s to further improve its own social protection programs.”

He said, Social protection is the common goal of both. In mutual collaboration and knowledge exchange, our relation will be a strengthened factor for better results.
