Punjab Plans to Construct Depot for 300 Electric Buses
The Punjab government is palpably taking initiatives to improve public transport and reduce pollution by enhancing electric bus infrastructure across the province
A new depot would be constructed at Thokar Niaz Baig to park more than 300 electric buses.

Additionally, electric bus terminals would be established in Ichhara, Model Town, and Cantonment that are furnished with all modern infrastructure along with charging stations.
Similarly, the Punjab Board of Revenue has already allotted land for depot and terminal construction in Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Dera Adda, General Bus Stand Multan, and Rawalpindi. It is at work to get the facilities completed as early as possible.
This would ensure, when operative, that the new electric bus depots and terminals provide an affordable, greener alternative for transport to the citizens of Punjab. This act embodies the vision of the government to observe sustainable development complemented with enhanced public experience.
Hybrid Double-Decker Bus in Lahore: Punjab Plans to Construct Depot for 300 Electric Buses
With another development to encourage tourism in a home to many historical landmarks, the old historical and cultural city Lahore, the Punjab government is set to launch five new hybrid double-decker buses on new routes.
The route for three new sightseeing buses will start from Qaddafi Stadium to other tourist places in Lahore.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that in every city of Punjab, metropolitan tourism will have provision for modern eco-friendly buses.
Rawalpindi-Lahore High Speed Train: Punjab Plans to Construct Depot for 300 Electric Buses
A proposed high speed railway line between Rawalpindi and Lahore is under consideration by the provincial government.
The proposed high-speed rail would have a speed of up to 250 km/h. This would cut the travel time between Lahore and Rawalpindi to less than two hours. This project costs around $1.6 billion.
Presently, the project’s proposal is under government consideration. Approval of it would mean a leap forward for infrastructure in Pakistan. The high-speed train would ensure faster travel for people living and working in these cities.
