New School Timings in Punjab
Due to better air quality, the Punjab government has issued a notification changing school timings in the entire province, including Lahore.
Enforced from 4th of December
From December 4, private and government schools will be allowed to start their classes at 8:15am, half an hour earlier than before.

The environment department director general, Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, issued a formal notification to this effect. The decision is uniform for all private and government schools across Punjab.
This change comes amidst the improvement of the AQI in the region.
School Timings: Punjab Govt Announces New School Timings
The Punjab government reopened schools in Lahore and Multan on Nov 20 after relaxing restrictions placed due to a sudden rise in the smog levels in Lahore and other cities of Punjab.
After several days of closure due to the hazardous levels of air quality in cities, schools have reopened for classes. Still, there are a few restrictions in place to ensure health and safety.
- School timings: Schools will not open before 8:45am.
- Mask mandate: Students and teachers are to wear masks all day.
- Outdoor activities ban: All outdoor sports and co-curricular activities are banned.
The Environment Department had advised the schools to strictly follow these guidelines in a bid to reduce the effects of smog and air pollution.
