Petrol Prices Decreased by Rs. 8

Petrol Prices Decreased by Rs. 8 and high-speed diesel decreased by Rs. 11. The interim government made a significant announcement on Saturday, unveiling a substantial reduction in fuel prices.

Petrol Prices as of 1st October 2023

The price of petrol will decrease by Rs. 8 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) will see an even more substantial drop of Rs. 11 per litre.

As of October 1, 2023, the revised rates for petrol and diesel will be 323.38 and 318.18 per litre, respectively. The Ministry of Finance explained that this decision to slash petroleum prices comes in light of the strengthening Pakistani rupee and the decline in international petroleum rates.

“In the wake of variations in international prices of petroleum products and the improvement in the exchange rate, the Government of Pakistan has decided to revise the consumer prices of petroleum products,” the ministry said.

This relief in fuel prices couldn’t have come at a better time for the citizens of the country who have been grappling with soaring inflation and hefty electricity bills.

Just in the previous review on September 15, the interim government had announced a substantial increase in petrol and diesel prices, causing them to soar to Rs331.38 and Rs329.18 per litre, respectively.

Recent indications from government officials had suggested that a reduction in petrol prices was on the horizon, especially as the Pakistani rupee gained strength against the US dollar. Notably, the Pakistani rupee’s impressive performance in September, attributed to a clampdown on smuggling and illicit currency exchanges, made it the world’s best-performing currency.
