This crucial guidance comes from Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council.
Respectful Conduct at Holy Sites:
Ashrafi emphasizes that the two Holy Mosques, the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and the Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, are sacred places of worship.
They serve as a spiritual sanctuary and a focal point for religious devotion, not a platform for political discourse or displays of national pride. He urges pilgrims to maintain their focus on fulfilling their religious obligations with utmost respect and reverence.
Avoiding Disruptive Activities:
Ashrafi cautions pilgrims against any activity that could disrupt the sanctity and sacredness of these holy sites.
This includes raising slogans, displaying flags, or engaging in any unrelated activities that might disturb the peaceful environment and distract fellow pilgrims from their spiritual journey.
Learning from Past Incidents:
This advice follows an unfortunate incident in 2022 where a group of Pakistani pilgrims disrespected the sanctity of the Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah by chanting slogans at then Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation.
Such actions can have a negative impact on the overall pilgrimage experience for everyone present.
Preparing for Hajj 2024:
With the upcoming Hajj season scheduled for June 2024, the Pakistani government has already conducted a lottery to select pilgrims traveling under the government scheme.
However, the Sponsorship Scheme has received a lower response compared to previous years.
Saudi Arabia’s Commitment to a Seamless Pilgrimage:
As the host nation welcoming millions of pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah each year, Saudi Arabia remains committed to providing the best possible facilities and services. They recognize the significance of this spiritual journey and strive to ensure a smooth and fulfilling experience for all pilgrims.
Key Focus Areas:
- Transportation: Managing the movement of millions of pilgrims during Hajj is a logistical challenge. Therefore, transportation remains a key focus area, with improvements being made to ensure efficient and timely movement of pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage process.
- Visa Procedures: Recognizing the importance of streamlined procedures, the Saudi government is continuously simplifying visa processes to make it easier for pilgrims to obtain the necessary permits for their journey.
- Nusuk Platform: To further enhance the pilgrimage experience, the Nusuk platform has been improved and updated. This online platform is used for issuing permits and managing various aspects of the pilgrimage, contributing to a more efficient and streamlined experience for all pilgrims.
By adhering to these guidelines and focusing on their spiritual obligations, Pakistani pilgrims can ensure a peaceful and fulfilling journey at the holiest sites in Islam. It’s crucial to remember that respect, reverence, and spiritual focus are the cornerstones of a successful and meaningful pilgrimage experience.
