Now You Can Apply for Passport from Anywhere, Regardless of the City on Your ID Card

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports announced that now Pakistani citizens will get the chance to apply for passports at any passport office across the country, without being dependent upon their registry address.

The new amendment under Rule 6 of the Passport Rules 2021 is for applications from applicants who may need to seek services outside their home jurisdictions.

Interior Ministry and Law Division to take Decision

A draft for an amendment was submitted to the Ministry of Interior only after the Law Division would clear it.

Under the rule approved by the Federal Cabinet, there is a demand for issuing authorities of passports to let applications from the citizens of the entire nation, thereby removing address as a criterion for exclusions.

It would allow any citizen of Pakistan to apply for passport services at any passport office, irrespective of the address on their Computerized National Identity Card, National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis, or Child Registration Certificate.

Implementation in Zonal Heads: Now You Can Apply for Passport from Anywhere

Again, it is a new directive telling the zonal heads to implement the revised rule for access by all citizens.

Considering this change in policy, no person should be denied passport service just because of their residence or jurisdiction.

This would be an easier one to the applicants because of its convenience, especially to people staying or working in areas other than a permanent place of residence.
