National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies

National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) is a joint venture between the Ignite-National Technology Fund (NTF), the Ministry of IT, and the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP).

In a concerted effort to expedite innovation in Aerospace and Information Communication Technology (ICT) within Pakistan, the former Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan inaugurated the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP) and NICAT: Pakistan’s Premier Aerospace and DeepTech Incubation Center.

These projects hold strategic national significance and foster the Triple Helix Model of Innovation, involving collaboration among industry, academia, and the government. This initiative aims to establish a thriving technology ecosystem within the country. The grand inauguration ceremony took place at NASTP Alpha, Rawalpindi.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, hosted the honorable Prime Minister and foreign delegates. This esteemed event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including General Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, Chief of Army Staff, federal ministers, senior government officials, and Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baykar. Their participation added prestige and support to this momentous occasion.

Ignite-NTF & ACPPL

Ignite National Technology Fund has been incorporated with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) under Section 42 of the Companies Act 2017 (Former Companies Ordinance 1984) by the Ministry of IT & Telecom, Government of Pakistan. Ignite is mandated to fund research and development in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its commercialization, with the mission to transform Pakistan’s economy into a knowledge-based economy. Aviation City Pakistan (Private) Limited (ACPPL) is a private limited company formed under the Companies Act 2017. The principal line of business of the company is to, among other things, National Aerospace Science and Technology Park(s) (NASTP) in Pakistan and/or abroad; to promote, form, and develop small, medium, and large-size aviation and space-related enterprises, businesses and academic undertakings, laboratories, consultancies, aviation and space related to design, research and development centers at the national level and with or without international collaborations; and provide world-class certification for military aviation and space systems.

NICAT is Pakistan’s First Ever Aerospace Incubation Center, and it has created opportunities for startups from the Aerospace, Aviation, and DeepTech fields. Startups can join NICAT physically in Rawalpindi or virtually from across the country.

Basic Information about NICAT

NICAT aims to rebuild Rawalpindi/Islamabad into a High-Tech Silicone Valley through Innovation and entrepreneurship. This will be possible by creating a tech-friendly environment where startups grow and prosper to fulfill national needs and serve global markets.
