Emirates world’s first airline to Operate A380 Demonstration Flight with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Emirates world’s first airline to Operate A380 Demonstration Flight with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

Emirates has created aviation history by successfully conducting the world’s inaugural demonstration flight using 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Departing from Dubai International Airport, the Emirates A380 showcased the viability of SAF by powering one of its four engines entirely with this sustainable alternative.

SAF has the potential to reduce carbon emissions by up to 85% compared to conventional jet fuel.

In collaboration with Airbus, Engine Alliance, Pratt & Whitney, Neste, Virent, and ENOC, Emirates utilized drop-in SAF that closely mimics conventional jet fuel characteristics.

This marked a significant milestone, demonstrating the compatibility of SAF across the A380’s existing systems.

The demonstration flight, carrying four tonnes of SAF provided by Neste and Virent, coincided with the Third International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3) in Dubai.

This strategic move aligns with global efforts to promote sustainable aviation solutions.
