Background of BISP Kafaalat Program

Launched in 2008, BISP Kafaalat is the biggest cash transfer program in Pakistan. It has two main objectives:

  • Short-term Objective: Reducing the impact of inflation, food insecurity, and economic instability.

BISP Kafaalat Registration: PMT Score Criteria

The Kafaalat program under the BISP uses a Proxy Means Test (PMT) of the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) to select the eligible families. Eligibility is determined based on the PMT score, which falls between 0-100.

  • Eligibility through Standard Cut-Off: Families with a PMT score of 32 or less
  • For Differently Abled: Families with a PMT score of 37 or less
  • These cut-off scores were approved by the BISP Board in September 2021.

Expanded Bank List for BISP Payments

The government has expanded the list of banks in order to ensure smooth withdrawal of cash assistance. The payments will now be accessible through the following banks:

  • Bank Alfalah
  • Bank of Punjab
  • Mobilink Microfinance/JazzCash
  • Telenor Microfinance Bank
  • Habib Bank Limited (HBL)]
