The artwork of Rebecca Wu was titled “My Sweetest Memories,” which pays homage to her sister, whom she likes and sometimes dislikes but is unable to imagine a life in her absence. She added, “We help to inspire each other and to help each other grow like the vines and flowers in my picture”. Wu was rewarded with a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology package for her school.

Regarding Wu: Wu is no newcomer to the world of art. This sixth-grader operates her own website, Brain Rain Studio, where she shares a range of creative endeavors, including stop-motion films, violin performances, comics, creative writing, and artwork.

Wu has been collaborating with Sunyoung Kwon, the Fine Arts Director at Bellevue’s Studios since she was seven years old.

Regarding the competition: The annual Doodle for Google competition is open to students in grades K-12 throughout the United States, including its states and territories. Participants are challenged to create a doodle that aligns with the given theme, with this year’s theme being: “I am thankful for…”

The panel of judges for this year consisted of actor Noah Schnapp, author Brian Selznick, Kurt Russell, the 2022 national teacher of the year, and Jessica Yu, the lead of Google’s Doodle team.

As the competition’s winner, Wu will not only see her artwork displayed on Google’s homepage but also receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology package for her school or non-profit organization, Google hardware, and various other branded prizes.

Wu’s vibrant artwork is scheduled to debut on the Google homepage starting at 9 p.m. PT on Monday.
