Trams Operation to Begin Soon in Lahore
Lahore, which is more known for its cultural value and recent achievements in development, is all set to begin a new book on its public transport system. After the Orange Line Train and Metro Bus Service, the tram service will mark the first of its kind for this metropolitan city.

This has been sanctioned by Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at the headquarters of the Lahore Development Authority. The project would help improve mobility in the city and enhance its visual attractiveness.

Major Stations Covered: Kalma Chowk, Main Boulevard, Hussain Chowk, MM Alam Road, Mini Market. The tram route will be 8.2 kilometers long.
For example, there will be five trams passing by almost concurrently, so commuters can hail a tram at every stop within two minutes of each other. It is going to make an immense difference between the convenience of residents and visitors.

This will not only relieve pressure on traffic congestion but take Lahore’s public transport system to new heights.
The provincial government will integrate the tram with the existing transport services to create a smooth travel experience in the city. Lahore is now starting this modernization of urban transit in Pakistan as these trams are about to roll out.
Rawalpindi-Lahore High-Speed Train
Meanwhile, to further uplift the travel experience in Punjab, the provincial government is pondering another ambitious project – the high-speed rail line connecting Lahore and Rawalpindi. The proposed high-speed train will be capable of running at 250 kilometers per hour. Thus, the travel time from Lahore to Rawalpindi will be merely less than two hours. The estimated cost of the project is around $1.6 billion.
However, the challenge ahead would be sourcing financing for the project. Much funding by the government has to be sourced to realize this idea.
