Kazakhstan will rank 54 out of 199 countries in the visa-free list, and its citizens will be able to go to 41 destinations without visas”.

With a mobility score of 94, Kazakhstan citizens can now explore the ever-growing list of visa-free or visa-on-arrival countries, which has significantly opened up global travel opportunities for them.

Kazakhstan has welcomed more than 30 new visa-free destinations in the past decade, and according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, it has identified 81 countries-total visa-free or visa-on-arrival options that will take into effect six more.

Kazakhstan maintains visa-free relationships with most other countries. Georgia has allowed the citizens of Kazakhstan to stay in the country for up to one year as a visa-free person. Armenian, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, also allow stay up to 180 days.

Russia, Türkiye, and others provide stays as long as 90 days. Hong Kong, Iran, and Oman are also a part of the list with up to 14-day visits without a visa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan is still interested in the growth of its citizens’ mobility. According to economist and head of DESHT Institutional Transformation Group, Kuanysh Zhaikov, increasing the volume of visa-free agreements is a long-term strategic goal.

He has drawn attention to the fact that not only may this growing number of such agreements have positive influence on securing similar conditions with large, more economically developed countries.

Kazakhstan extended its visa-free list in 2023 with agreements concluding with Bangladesh, Seychelles, San Marino, China, and Vietnam.

Importantly, talks are underway for which the European Union would grant Kazakhstan easier visa requirements, thus reducing fees, speeding up processing, and making longer-term stays available on multiple-entry visas.

Kazakhstan had a surge in arrivals, reaching 9.2 million in 2023. Of these, 8.9 million are from visa-free countries.

Two mutual visa-free regimes, one with China that increased Chinese tourist traffic from 18,000 to 367,000 in 2023 and the other, a threefold increase in Indian tourists from 28,000 to 78,000, in the same period, have also been highlighted.

More accesses to visa-free conditions on the part of Kazakhstan would open new opportunities to out-bound tourists as well as in-bound travelers. It will serve to further entrench its position on the global tourist map.
