The Pakistani tennis community is mourning the sudden passing of 17-year-old Zainab Ali Naqvi on February 12th in Islamabad. Zainab, a talented and promising player from Karachi, was participating in the ITF Juniors Tournament.

The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) expressed its deepest condolences in an official statement:
“Zainab Ali Naqvi, a young tennis player who had come from Karachi to Islamabad for the ITF Juniors Tournaments, passed away in Islamabad on the night of February 12, 2024. PTF President Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, Former PTI President Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, PTI Council members, and numerous members of the tennis community extend their deepest condolences to the grieving family. May Allah grant the departed soul eternal peace.”
As a mark of respect, today’s ITF Juniors matches were dedicated to Zainab’s memory. Tomorrow’s matches will proceed as scheduled, with a collective prayer held for all players, parents, coaches, and officials before the start of play.
