Highlighting the program’s significance, Minister Naqvi stated, “We’re launching the ‘Margalla Trail Patrol’ to secure the beautiful trails of Margalla, especially for the safety of foreigners who love exploring them.”

A Multi-Pronged Approach to Security:

The Margalla Trail Patrol promises a comprehensive security framework for hikers. This will be achieved through a three-pronged approach:

  • Trail Motorcycles: These agile vehicles will allow for efficient patrolling of the extensive network of trails, enabling a swift response to any potential incidents.
  • Mounted Police: Adding a touch of tradition and a unique perspective, mounted police officers will patrol the trails on horseback. This approach offers a commanding view of the surroundings and allows for navigating uneven terrain with ease.
  • Foot Patrolling: Regular foot patrols by security personnel will ensure a thorough and close-up inspection of the trails, further enhancing overall security.

A Haven for Hikers and Nature Lovers:

The Margalla Hills National Park, nestled on the northern edge of Islamabad, boasts six distinct hiking trails. These scenic paths attract a multitude of visitors daily, including both local residents and international tourists. The diverse landscape, breathtaking views, and abundant wildlife make the Margalla Hills a haven for nature enthusiasts seeking a refreshing escape from the urban environment.

Addressing Safety Concerns:

The launch of the Margalla Trail Patrol comes in the wake of recent reports of leopard sightings within the Margalla Hills National Park. While these majestic creatures pose a minimal threat to humans if encountered respectfully, their presence can be unsettling for some hikers. Additionally, the rugged terrain and remoteness of certain trails necessitate a robust security presence for emergencies or unforeseen situations.

A Welcomed Initiative:

The Margalla Trail Patrol is a positive development for all those who frequent the Margalla Hills. This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to promoting responsible tourism and ensuring the safety of all visitors. By fostering a secure environment, the Margalla Trail Patrol paves the way for a more enjoyable and worry-free hiking experience for everyone.pen_spark
