Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Honhaar Scholarship Program. The budget of this ambitious and massive program of worth Rs 130 billion is earmarked for deserving students across Punjab.

As per reports, more than 68,000 applications have already been received from students studying in 65 universities, 359 colleges, and 12 medical colleges, revealed Punjab Higher Education Department.
Scholarship for 68 Disciplines
This scholarship initiative is going to be a pivotal step towards supporting higher education in Punjab and offers tuition coverage for undergraduate programs across four to five years in 68 disciplines.
Honhaar Scholarship Program 2024 Eligibility
Students intending to apply must fulfill the following criteria:
- Domicile: The applicants should possess a domicile belonging to any district in Punjab.
- Age Limit: As of the closing date, applicants should not exceed 22 years of age.
Enrollment Status:
- Currently enrolled in selected disciplines at eligible universities or colleges for the fall session of 2024.
- Newly enrolled MBBS and BDS students for the year 2024.
- Family Income: Monthly family income less than Rs 300,000 supported by affidavit.
Minimum Academic Percentage:
- In Medical Colleges: 80% and above.
- At Top Universities: 80% or above.
Public Sector Universities:
- Science disciplines: 75% or above.
- Arts and Social Sciences: 70% or above.
HED Colleges:
- 65% or above for Science disciplines.
- 60% or above for Arts and Social Sciences.
Honhaar Scholarship for 30,000 Students Annually: Honhaar Scholarship Program 2024 Eligibility
The Honhaar Scholarship Program is working in tandem with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision.
The 30,000 students will now get scholarships annually for higher education.
The program specifically helps to ensure that higher education is not a constraint for socially deprived students due to financial issues.
Maryam Ki Dastak program to 32 districts
On November 18, the Punjab government extended the Maryam Ki Dastak program to 32 districts as directed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The program is focused on improving service delivery by posting trained representatives that ensure the experience becomes citizen-friendly.
Districts newly added to the program include Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Lodhran, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Gujrat, and Khushab.
