The space research agency said that Pakistan will be entering the moon not just to look at it, as had been planned in a project called the “Preservation of Resources around Lunar Earth and could achieve unique opportunities for space research.”

A SUPARCO spokesperson revealed that as part of this mission, Pakistan will provide a 35 kilogram rover for the southern pole of the Moon.

Moon Mission Scheduled for 2028

The launching of the rover is scheduled in 2028, and it is to play an imperative role in taking the tasks of the mission forward by improving the analysis of the lunar surface and contributing to revolutionary research about the moon.

This alliance comes after Pakistan’s iCube Qamar satellite successfully launched aboard China’s Chang’e-6 mission.

iCube Qamar entered lunar orbit on May 8, marking another significant step in Pakistan’s space exploration endeavors.

The CubeSat is designed as a miniature satellite and is a very important tool for scientific research and technological advancement.

Joint Lunar Mission: Pakistan Cooperates with China for Chang e-8 lunar mission

China will be sending a joint mission named Chang’e-8 along with Pakistan’s SUPARCO, which is to become Pakistan’s first-ever direct involvement in the lunar exploration.

Pakistani scientists and engineers will get the opportunity to serve on one of the most ambitious space missions of the decade.

It has recently been in the news that China has led the race to space, especially with its lunar exploration program.

That Pakistan has joined forces with China on this very high-profile space expedition is a long-term time commitment for SUPARCO to expand its capabilities in space research.

The Chang’e-8 mission promises key data regarding the south pole of the Moon that will be useful in determining the feasibility of future human missions and possible utilization of lunar resources.
